چکیده
heparin- induced thrombocytopenia (hit) is an antibody mediated adverse effect of heparin therapy which is classified into two subtypes, hit i which is non-immune, spontaneously reversible thrombocytopenia and; hit ii which is an autoimmune-mediated adverse effect of heparin therapy. in this case report, we described a 65-year old male patient with hit ii after coronary artery bypass grafting. key words: heparin- induced thrombocytopenia, heparin- induced thrombosis, coronary artery bypass grafting.

Heparin-Induced Thrombocytopenia (HIT) Syndrome
Heparin has been available as a clinical treatment and prevention for thromboembolic disease for half a century. Known complications of heparin therapy include bleeding, allergic reactions, osteoporosis, and thrombocytopenia. Heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT) is a common and potentially grave adverse effect of heparin treatment. HIT is unusual among drug-induced thrombocytopenias in that i...
متن کاملHeparin induced thrombocytopenia
Abstract Background and Objectives Heparin is still a commonly used anticoagulant in prophylaxis and treatment of thromboembolic events. Heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT) is a life-threating adverse drug reaction of heparin. The diagnosis of HIT is made based on two important criteria, firstly clinical evaluation and secondly laboratory testing. In this comprehensive review, the authors w...
متن کاملHeparin-induced thrombocytopenia in a non-heparin-naive patient: a case report
INTRODUCTION Administration of low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) is recommended for prophylaxis of venous thromboembolism in patients undergoing hip surgery. In this context, heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT) type II is a complication of rare incidence but sometimes fatal outcome. CASE DESCRIPTION A 52-year old obese patient undergoing antithrombotic therapy with Enoxaparin after hip s...
متن کاملHIT BY HEPARIN: A Rare Case of Late Onset Heparin Induced Thrombocytopenia
Heparin induced thrombocytopenia is a rare complication of heparin therapy that usually occurs within initial 5 to 10 days of heparin exposure. We present a rare case of delayed onset heparin induced thrombocytopenia that occurred one week after cessation.
متن کاملAnticoagulation and Iloprost for heparin-induced thrombocytopenia: a case report.
In patients who receive heparin for anticoagulation, there can be a mild, transient thrombocytopenia which is usually devoid of complications. However, 6% of these patients experience serious heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT), which can result in coagulation problems or death. Iloprost, a recently developed drug, given in conjunction with heparin, can be used to manage the patient with HIT...
متن کاملHeparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT) in 2011: an epidemic of overdiagnosis.
Heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT) is a prothrombotic and potentially fatal iatrogenic disorder mediated by IgG antibodies that target multimolecular complexes of platelet factor 4 (PF4) and heparin (1). Although the first description of the disorder dates back more than 50 years (2), it was not until the 1990s that the target antigen in HIT was identified and the now widely used anti-PF4/h...
